Amouage Chapter IV: Eternity – Existence & Decision.

Amouage has unveiled Chapter IV: Eternity, the final instalment in its Odyssey Collection, with the debut of two new fragrances—Decision and Existence—each designed to evoke the emotional resonance of infinite journeys and self-discovery.

Composed by perfumer Quentin Bisch under the creative direction of Amouage Chief Creative Officer Renaud Salmon, the duo was inspired by a solitary trek Salmon took to Jebel Shams, Oman’s highest mountain. Encountering scarred juniper trees—some petrified by lightning, others miraculously alive—along with clouds that obscured the ground and sky, the experience became a metaphor for resilience, transformation and transcendence. “It was a profound moment of clarity,” said Salmon. “I knew I had to translate it into fragrance.”

The result is Decision—a bold, aromatic composition described as a symbolic ‘bolt of lightning’, blending Bergamot, Juniper, Frankincense and Myrrh with a warm Vanilla base. Its counterpart, Existence, takes a more ethereal path, built around a delicate Lily of the Valley note with Frankincense, Rose and Benzoin, evoking serenity and timelessness.

The launch marks the conclusion of Amouage’s Odyssey narrative, which began in 2020 with Meander, Ashore, Crimson Rocks and Enclave, followed by Boundless and Material in 2021, and Lineage, Search, Guidance and Purpose in 2023. While the collection explored Oman’s landscapes and the metaphysical dimensions of travel, Decision and Existence bring the journey full circle.

Housed in the brand’s signature flacons with artwork by Belgian visual artist Louise Mertens, Decision features a seagull-grey hue and bark-inspired motif, while Existence is presented in celadon tones with a cloudscape design. Each Eau de Parfum contains a high concentration of pure perfume oils—33% for Decision and 20% for Existence—and undergoes several weeks of maturation and maceration to achieve optimal depth and balance.

Amouage Decision and Amouage Existence (100ml, RRP $599) are available via Libertine Parfumerie, Myer and David Jones.
