Australian celebrity hair and makeup artist Jade Kisnorbo has spent nearly two decades perfecting faces, working with icons such as Zoe Foster Blake, Rebecca Judd, Rachel Finch, Georgia Fowler, Shanina Shaik and even British royals Eliza and Amelia Spencer. Known for her creativity, warmth and signature “flawless but fresh” aesthetic, Jade has now channelled her artistry into a new medium — clay.
This month she unveils the Robert Gordon x Jade Kisnorbo Collection, a sculptural, handcrafted ceramic line designed to elevate the everyday ritual of beauty. The collaboration marks Robert Gordon’s first step into the beauty world, with four elevated ceramic pieces — Ribbon Rest, Brush Bed, Ceramic Brush Holder and Base — that transform functional beauty storage into collectible design.
“True artistry begins with the tools we use,” says Jade. “For so long, I searched for pieces that were as beautiful as they were functional, and nothing spoke to both. This collection is about transforming the everyday into something considered and artful.”
Crafted from high-fired stoneware in a custom blush glaze, each piece is designed to be treasured and timeless — a meeting point of form and function. The Brush Bed, for instance, allows brushes to be stored horizontally so they dry correctly and last longer. “Small details like this make all the difference when it comes to respecting and protecting the essentials we rely on,” Jade explains.
For Hannah Gordon, Director of Robert Gordon Australia, the collaboration was a natural fit: “Like glaze brushes in pottery, makeup brushes need care to last. Jade’s insight into the beauty world allowed us to create ceramics that are as considered and refined as they are practical.”
From Artist to Brand Creator
Jade’s journey from performing touch-ups backstage to co-designing ceramics is the culmination of nearly twenty years of experience. After completing a physiology degree and realising corporate life wasn’t for her, she moved to London with her husband, A-League coach Patrick Kisnorbo, and trained at one of the city’s top make-up schools.
“I spent all my savings on the best make-up school in London, and since that day I’ve never looked back,” she recalls. “They told us only five per cent of us would make a living from this career — I remember thinking, I have to be one of them.”
The London years were her apprenticeship in resilience and refinement. “You’re only as good as your last job — that’s the motto I still live by,” she says. “In London, no one really helps you. In Melbourne, people support each other — and that’s where my career really took off.”
Since returning home, Jade has become one of Australia’s most in-demand artists, leading beauty direction at Vogue x eBay Runway, Myer Runway Series, and major events such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix and Crown Marquee at the Melbourne Cup.
Yet, despite the glamour, her focus remains deeply human.
“I learn something from every person I meet. You have this spiritual connection — people share things with you they might not tell anyone else. By the end of the appointment, when they look in the mirror and smile, it’s the most rewarding feeling.”
The Beauty of Evolving
Now, Jade adds “brand creator” to her impressive resume — but her philosophy hasn’t changed.
“Every person has a network and a story. I always tell up-and-coming artists: be persistent, make the follow-up call, and say yes to opportunities — even if you only have 15 minutes’ notice. Be flexible and create your own idea of success, not someone else’s.”
Her new creative direction reflects that same spirit of authenticity and balance.
“I wanted to design something that feels like me — minimal, elegant, but purposeful,” she says. “These pieces are for anyone who sees beauty not just in the finished look, but in the process — in the brushes, the tools, the ritual itself.”
With Robert Gordon x Jade Kisnorbo, she bridges the worlds of artistry and design — celebrating craftsmanship, care, and creativity in every curve of clay.
