In recognition of World Menopause Month, Emepelle — a skincare brand dedicated to addressing skin changes associated with peri- and menopause — hosted an intimate Sydney event that put midlife women’s skin in the spotlight.
TV and radio personality (and current Golden Bachelor contestant) Bianca Dye joined Dr David Kosenko, Medical Director of Dermocosmètica, for a candid discussion about the emotional and physical realities of menopause — from the impact of oestrogen decline on the skin to the long-overdue resurgence of menopause education in medicine.
“I love that people are finally talking about it,” Bianca said. “When I first started getting symptoms, I was gaslighting myself — anxiety, hot flushes — and wondering if it was perimenopause. Add an ADHD diagnosis into the mix, and you start asking, Is it the peri? The ADHD? Or am I losing my mind?”
Bianca shared that she’s been using the Emepelle range daily, crediting it for her post-menopause glow. “People keep saying, ‘Your skin looks amazing,’ and it’s because I’m using these three products. It’s like puberty all over again — only this time we can afford better wine and better skincare!”
Dr Kosenko explained that the brand’s breakthrough MEP Technology delivers oestrogen-like benefits to the skin — without hormones or systemic effects.
“During menopause, women can lose up to 30 per cent of their skin’s collagen in the first five years,” he said. “Oestrogen plays a vital role in maintaining skin firmness and hydration, and Emepelle’s MEP Technology uniquely reactivates oestrogen-deficient skin safely.”
He also highlighted how menopause education in general practice had waned since the early 2000s following the controversial Women’s Health Initiative study. “It’s encouraging to see the conversation — and the training — being revived. Menopause should never have been pushed to the sidelines of women’s health.”
The three-product collection is designed to rejuvenate, restore and rebalance:
- Emepelle Serum ($277, 35 ml) — a silky, antioxidant-rich formula powered by niacinamide, peptides and hyaluronic acid.
- Emepelle Night Cream ($293, 48 g) — features dual retinols, niacinamide and emollients to repair and nourish.
- Emepelle Eye Cream ($190, 15 ml) — smooths fine lines, reduces puffiness and brightens dark circles.
Clinical studies show that 100 per cent of participants experienced improved skin hydration after eight weeks, while 93 per cent reported enhanced texture and radiance.
The event also touched on the report Issues Related to Menopause and Perimenopause, released in September, 2024 by the Senate, one of the two houses of the Australian Federal Parliament, aimed at pushing menopause into mainstream health dialogue. “Women are demanding answers,” said Dr Kosenko. “They’re tired of being told to just ‘get on with it.’ Education, funding and innovation are catching up — and Emepelle is part of that shift.”
Emepelle is owned and exclusively distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Dermocosmètica.
