Wesfarmers has decided to wind down its Catch online marketplace, five years after acquiring it for $230 million, citing increased competition in the Australian e-commerce sector.

Catch will cease trading as a standalone business in the final quarter of the 2025 financial year.

Beauty brands listed on the discount website include Estée Lauder, Lancôme, L’Oréal, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, Maybelline, Designer Brands, Revlon, La Roche-Posay, Shea Moisture and Dermalogica.

Wesfarmers MD Rob Scott stated that the Group’s retail and health businesses, with strong omnichannel offerings, are better positioned to meet evolving market and customer demands.

As part of the transition, Wesfarmers’ retail divisions will integrate select digital capabilities from Catch.

The Kmart Group will take over Catch’s underutilised e-commerce fulfilment centres in Moorebank, NSW, and Truganina, Victoria, in the fourth quarter.

Kmart Group MD Ian Bailey noted the move will improve delivery speeds and reduce costs while easing pressure on physical stores.
