Beiersdorf has announced a major leadership transition in its Australia and New Zealand operations, with long-serving Managing Director Clynton Bartholomeusz set to retire at the end of 2025. After more than 30 years with the business—including 24 years as MD—Bartholomeusz will hand over the reins to current Sales Director ANZ, Dulcie de Koning, effective immediately.
Bartholomeusz joined Beiersdorf in 1994, leading the relaunch of the Nivea brand in Australia. Appointed Managing Director in 2001, he played a key role in growing Nivea into a household name and positioning Elastoplast as a leader in the competitive healthcare and sports market.
“It has been a highlight of my professional journey, building the business. But more importantly, it is the talented team of people that I have had the opportunity to collaborate with daily who continue to inspire me to bring my best as a leader. I want to thank everyone within the organisation for your ongoing dedication and commitment,” said Mr Bartholomeusz.
Taking over as Managing Director, de Koning brings more than two decades of FMCG and retail experience, including senior roles at Procter & Gamble and PepsiCo. She joined Beiersdorf in 2023 and has quickly made an impact with her deep commercial insight and customer-first approach.
“We have the benefit of our longstanding 143-year legacy as a trusted skincare organisation. Our range of brands currently caters to seven in 10 Aussie and Kiwi households and in my new role, together with the team as well as our longstanding retail partners, we will continue to increase our brands’ presence and position our tried and tested, innovative products as everyday staples,” said Ms de Koning.
Bartholomeusz voiced his support for the appointment, saying:
“Dulcie knows the Beiersdorf brand and reflects our values of care while also bringing a rich understanding of the dynamic, high-performing market. After decades of journeying with Beiersdorf, I am passing on the baton to Dulcie and, confident the team will continue to thrive under her stewardship.”
Ms de Koning added: “Clynton’s contributions have been instrumental in shaping the success of Beiersdorf ANZ. His leadership, dedication, and vision have left a lasting impact, ensuring ongoing success for the team and business. We will miss his presence as a leader and colleague, and we are immensely grateful for his legacy. We wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.”
