L’Oréal Groupe Australia has officially unveiled its Innovation Station at SXSW Sydney, marking the beauty powerhouse’s debut at the global festival of creativity, technology and culture.

Opening yesterday at Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour, the week-long activation runs until 19 October, offering consumers an immersive, multi-sensory journey through L’Oréal Groupe’s world of beauty, innovation and technology.

The Innovation Station showcases the strength and diversity of L’Oréal’s 36-brand portfolio — spanning L’Oréal Paris, Lancôme, Kérastase, La Roche-Posay and more — and provides festival-goers with a rare opportunity to experience first-hand how the world’s largest beauty company is shaping the future of the category.

Designed as an interactive playground, the activation invites guests to touch, test and explore new innovations across skincare, haircare, fragrance and beauty tech.

Highlights include:

  • Fragrance Tunnel: A mirrored mist walkway taking visitors on a sensorial scent journey through L’Oréal Groupe’s fragrance portfolio.
  • Hair Station: Live demonstrations of the L’Oréal Professionnel AirLight Pro and Steampod, alongside Kérastase’s KScan technology offering instant scalp analysis.
  • Sampling Dispensary: Guests can mix and match their “formula for beauty” from across 36 brands.
  • Positivity Hotline: An interactive installation encouraging self-expression and affirmation.
  • Skin Cancer Checks: In partnership with Skin Check Champions, La Roche-Posay is providing complimentary skin checks throughout the week, transforming the space into a “Beauty Confessional Booth” on weekends.

L’Oréal Groupe CEO Alex Davison and Chief Marketing & Digital Officer Georgia Hack are also participating in SXSW Sydney’s conference program, joining panel discussions on innovation, marketing and the evolving beauty consumer.

“The future of beauty is shaped not just by products, but by innovation that enhances people’s lives,” said Alex Davison, CEO of L’Oréal Groupe Australia & New Zealand. “SXSW Sydney is the perfect platform to demonstrate how science and technology are unlocking new possibilities for beauty experiences.”

Simon Cahill, Co-Managing Director of SXSW Sydney, said: “L’Oréal Groupe’s leadership in innovation and sustainability makes them a natural fit for SXSW. We’re thrilled to see attendees engage with their groundbreaking approach to beauty this week.”

The activation marks L’Oréal Groupe’s first participation in SXSW Sydney, further reinforcing the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and consumer engagement across the ANZ region.

The Innovation Station is open daily at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour, until Saturday 19 October.
