Sunday Riley founded Sunday Riley Modern Skincare on a shoestring budget back in 2009, “smack bang in the middle of the global financial crisis”.

She said at that time, she created the brand to “bridge that gap between really effective, active skincare and also skincare that was powered by botanicals because at that time, it was kind of one or the other”.

Today the mother-of-four is  the full-time, hands-on CEO of the organisation as well as the lead product formulator.

Each day, she and her team make and evaluate an average of five test formulas per day.

The latest formula to hit the shelves is the CEO Afterglow Brightening Vitamin C Gel Cream.

This lightweight plumping moisturiser features the same brightening benefits of vitamin C (THD Ascorbate) found in Sunday Riley’s cult-favourite CEO collection.

CEO Afterglow plumps and evens skin tone while a sodium hyaluronate-powered humectant pulls hydration into the skin over time for long-lasting moisturisation.

A combination of lutein and allantoin gives a boost of antioxidants and helps keep skin hydrated, day or night.

CEO Afterglow Brightening Vitamin C Gel Cream is vegan, cruelty-free, and manufactured in adherence to Sunday Riley’s B Corp certified standards. It is available at Mecca stores nationwide and mecca.com.au.

To celebrate the launch in Australia, media and influencers were invited to a breakfast event to celebrate the launch of the gel cream at a private residence in Darling Point.

Host Gemma Watts shared a quote from Sunday at the event:

“You have to try and you have to pivot. You’ve got to acknowledge when it’s not right and when you can do better. I’m not going to win the battle with the consumers of the world on whether the product was ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ if they’re not buying it. If they’re not buying it, they were right.”
