Growth in clean and sustainable products have outpaced the total beauty category in each of the last four years, especially during peak Covid-19, reports NielsenIQ.

According to the market research consultant: ‘The clean beauty consumer is buying products that take a holistic approach. This customer knows how to read ingredient labels to avoid toxic ingredients and is looking for additional ingredients with health and wellness benefits.’

Green beauty and lifestyle enthusiasts turned out in their droves to attend The Green Edit event.

The expo, now in its second installment and held at Terrace on the Domain,  showcased the best organic and natural makeup, skincare, hair products, fragrance, nail-care, sunscreen, lifestyle and inner beauty supplements.

The Best of The Green Edit Award Winners 2022 were announced at the event.

Cathy Tolpigin, Organic Makeup Artist and Founder of The Green Edit, said the awards were a way to highlight and promote the best in clean, sustainable, cruelty-free beauty and lifestyle products.

“Our judging panel of influential Australian and international beauty experts and retailers test and tried almost 200 natural, ethical, sustainable and cruelty-free beauty and lifestyle products to determine the winners of the awards,” she said.

The panel included international buyers and beauty editors including the founder of US retailer Beauty Heroes, Jeanie Jarrot and the buying team from global beauty retailer The Detox Market as well as local experts and buyers, with an additional two award winners being selected from a public vote.

“One of the biggest winners of the event was Ipsum Skin, founded by former beauty editor Janet Hayward,” she said.

“The organic skincare brand took top honours in two of the publicly voted people’s choice – being named People’s Choice Award for Best Beauty Product for their Lip Oil Balm and the People’s Choice Award for Best Wellness Product for their Best Skin Body Oil.

“Congratulations also to Inika Organic, who last week revealed supermodel Nicole Trunfio as the face of their brand and won best New Product Launch  for their Radiant Glow booster.

“Industry newcomer, Emma Lewisham,  who has gained a cult following with the likes of Lara Worthington,  Kate Fowler,  Phoebe Tonkin and Sydney socialite Deborah Symond O’Neil using her products, took out the award for Best Sunscreen with their Emma Lewisham Skin Shield SPF 30.”
