Leading Australian beauty retailer Mecca is the new home for the world’s oldest yet most cutting-edge skincare brand. Shiseido’s arrival in the edgy retailer’s stores in September (2019) continues to strengthen Mecca’s global beauty brand line-up.
Beauty powerhouse Shiseido is the oldest and fourth largest cosmetics company in the world, founded in 1872 by Yushin Fukuhara. In those pioneering days, the next most significant cosmetic company to launch was Avon in 1886. Shiseido’s scientific achievements in skincare and cosmetics meld with its deep interests in the world of art, providing customers with the highest tech most aesthetically elegant products.
Shiseido brings its longstanding skincare philosophy of science and innovation to the Australian retailer, with a strong skincare line-up that includes the cult classic Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate Serum.
Mecca founder Jo Horgan believes the brand will provide customers with the opportunity to discover and re-discover some increasingly hot…and hotter…J-beauty favourites.
“We are so delighted to secure such a historic, innovative and iconic skincare brand…Shiseido has been around for almost 150 years and has a legion of fans around the world, so we’re thrilled to be able to welcome them into our stores and online and bring their award winning products to current and new customers alike”, says Jo.
Jean-Philippe Charrier, President & CEO, Shiseido Asia Pacific comments: “Our partnership with Mecca marks an exciting milestone for Shiseido in Asia Pacific, and we see significant opportunity to further strengthen our combined position in the fast-growing Prestige beauty market in Australia.
More importantly, I am excited that this partnership will enable more consumers in Australia to enjoy Shiseido’s iconic range of skincare and makeup products; discerning consumers who appreciate the quality, heritage and innovation that only Shiseido can deliver.”
Delivering some of the world’s most luxurious and coveted beauty finds, as well as blockbuster brands customers know and love, Mecca already stocks Shiseido Group-owned NARS, Laura Mercier and bareMinerals. The full SHISEIDO skincare range has launched in select Mecca stores around Australia, with make-up to follow in 2020.
