Babor is one of 36 cosmetics and personal care companies, as well as professional associations, that joined forces earlier this year to form the EcoBeautyScore Consortium, which aims to develop an industry-wide environmental impact assessment and scoring system for cosmetics products.
The purpose of the EcoBeautyScore Consortium is to enable consumers to make sustainable choices through an environmental impact assessment and scoring system.
Babor was founded by the chemist Dr Michael Babor in 1956 in a kitchen in Cologne, Germany.
He developed HY-ÖL, which cleanses the skin with natural oils, and laid the foundation for numerous innovations.
The pharmacist Dr Leo Vossen acquired the beauty start-up and brought the company to Aachen. The Vossen family of entrepreneurs turned the scientist’s idea into a global brand.
To this day, the icon in the Babor range is the ampoule, and each filigree, 2ml glass vial contains a single dose of active ingredients.
Sustainability was highlighted at the Babor Australia ampoules relaunch, held at O Bar and Dining Sydney.
International experts included Fabienne Lindholm, Director of International Education, from Germany and Nicky Cole, APAC International Educator, from Singapore flew in for the event.
They spoke about Babor’s local and global initiatives, innovations and brand proficiency, and gave personalised prescriptions to guests.
The Ampoule Concentrates were showcased over lunch. Babor offers 10 different seven-day ampoule treatment series, housed in clean, white packaging.
“Subtle colour highlights in pastel shades identify skin requirements and make it easier to navigate the new Babor ampoule world,” Nicky said.
“Sustainability is at the heart of Babor’s brand values as we are CO2 neutral, zero use of cellophane and now using QR codes on each product packaging to replace product leaflets to save on paper.”
The German-made formulas are vegan and free from silicones, parabens, PEGs, synthetic polymers and dyes, as well as lactose, gluten, and mineral oil.
