“The power lives in you. The power lives in me. You’ve got the power.“
The lyrics to the song The Power, by Delta Goodrem, from her Bridge Over Troubled Dreams album are also the inspiration behind her latest fragrance.
The singer launched her fourth fragrance, Power EDP, in October, just five months after releasing her seventh studio album which features the uplifting song.
Speaking to media at the launch of the new fragrance, Delta said the fragrance was about igniting the power that lives within you and harnessing the strength and self-confidence to be who you want to be.
“We’re in such a new world right now, we’ve all come out of experience together. There’s really this new freedom where there’s about the power within yourself to make things happen,” she said.
Delta said the song The Power was one of the last songs she wrote on the record because the album had been very autobiographical.
“I’ve gone back to the piano and back to basics,” she said. “I’ve gone on experience, which I shared about going through a nerve paralysis (in 2018 complications after the removal of her salivary gland led to a paralysis of a nerve in her tongue) and then sort of having that reset. And then coming out of that, and going into where the world opens, and all of a sudden, we’re stepping back out on life.”
The 38-year-old said she always looked at her life in “chapters and cycles” and that her fragrance was “a connection through a sensory that then takes us to a chapter that has to match where I’m at musically”.
Power, the fragrance, features top notes of toasted coconut, white freesia and waterlily, mid notes of dreamwood, ambrox super and jasmine air and base notes of cedwarwood virginia, vanilla bourbon and milky musks.
“The fragrance had to match the music and had to match this moment about people’s own power,” she said.
Power is housed in a chic yet strong bottle with defined lines and adorned with a circular form glossy black lid.
Power by Delta Goodrem EDP is available exclusively at Chemist Warehouse stores Australia-wide and online.
