Since 1996, Dermalogica’s innovative approach to developing efficacious formulations, and in-clinic protocols, has established the brand as a revered skincare leader. Today, Dermalogica is used by more than 100,000 skin therapists, across 100+ countries around the globe.
The brand recently launched two exciting new products to combat hyperpigmentation. The media event was held at Sydney’s heritage-listed Hinchcliff House and included a lavish dinner, and an engaging panel discussion facilitated by TV Presenter Phoebe Burgess. The panel’s insightful skincare commentary was led by Dermatologist Dr Eshini Perera, and Dermalogica educational experts – Sarah Hughes and Brittany Tosich.
“Skin hyperpigmentation (dark spots) is aligned to the darkening of certain areas of the skin due to an excess production of melanin, the primary pigment responsible for skin colour. The condition can be attributed to an array of factors including ageing, hormonal fluctuations, inflammation (aka skin trauma), medications, and damaging UV exposure. Aside from applying a dermatologist-approved broad spectrum daily SPF50+ sunscreen, my star ingredients to address hyperpigmentation include AHAs, Retinoids, and Tranexamic Acid to promote cell turnover, reduce the production of pigment, and brighten the complexion”, says Dr Perera (Southern Dermatology, VIC).
Launching soon, new PowerBright Dark Spot Peel, is a 15 minute at-home treatment designed to visibly fade dark spots, and reduce the triggers associated with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). The breakthrough, clinically proven formula is powered by a blend of 12% AHAs, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), Tranexamic Acid, and caring Omega-3s to promote exfoliation, diminish the appearance of dark spots, and promote a healthier skin barrier. Always apply to cleansed skin, and begin by using daily for four to five days, then use between two and three times per week.
Prescribed exclusively by an authorised Dermalogica skincare professional, the new Melanopro Peel System Skin Treatment consists of a two-phase program designed to target stubborn hyperpigmentation within six weeks. The comprehensive system is powered by a clinically proven combination of Azelaic, Glycolic, Lactic Salicylic Acids + Retinol, and Niacinamide. Phase One consists of a professional in-clinic Peel Masque, and Phase Two consists of a Continuous Resurfacing Cream + an Ultracalming Mist (both administered at-home), to inhibit the appearance of dark spots, and promote a brighter, more uniform complexion. The system can be used alone, or integrated into a treatment plan that may include other skin technologies such as chemical peels, lasers, IPL, microneedling, and dermaplaning.
