Asia remains the dominant player in global skincare sales, with consumers across the continent “obsessed with” seeking to achieve flawless skin that is clear, luminous and seemingly transparent.
To help cosmetic manufacturers tap into this growing trend for the appearance of glass-like, cloudless skin, in-cosmetics Asia (trade show) has announced hydration and haircare as two of these major focuses of its Spotlight On areas this year.
Hydration Ingredients
Ingredients that provide hydrating properties are pivotal to the development of new products that help deliver pure, clean, radiant and glowing skin. And the event will bring together the world’s leading suppliers to showcase unique materials that will inspire a new wave of innovation in Asia.
New ingredients, textures and formats are progressively helping to improve skin health by boosting hydration and this year’s in-cosmetics Asia event will provide R&D teams and cosmetic chemists with an easy way to source ingredients that provide effective moisturisation and combat dryness. Its Spotlight on Hydration area within the exhibition will bring together leading suppliers to present innovations that can enhance formulations and deliver incredible hydration to consumers.
Among the suppliers presenting ingredients at in-cosmetics Asia’s Spotlight On Hydration area are sponsor, Mibelle Biochemistry, which will showcase MossCellTec™ No. 1 – a bitotechnologically produced moss that improves skin hydration. Also on display will be Aquapuntia®, an ingredient responsibly sourced from prickly pear gel, developed by BIOCOSMETHIC SAS.
In an aid to help cosmetic manufacturers better understand the latest trends and opportunities in the APAC region, Mintel’s Senior Innovation & Insights Analyst, Beauty & Personal Care, Sharon Kwek will explore different hydration-related claims that are currently being made across the world and how these concepts are gaining traction across other beauty and personal care categories.
Hair Health Actives
According to market research carried out by Kantar TNS, 50% of consumers worldwide consider their hair to be damaged, dry, lifeless or limp. And in Asia – where there are constant challenges due to the heat and humidity – frizzy, greasy hair is common, while increased awareness of the effect of pollution is creating a surge in demand for anti-pollution haircare products in China and India, as reported by Euromonitor International.
in-cosmetics Asia’s Spotlight On Haircare Actives area is designed to help cosmetic chemists and marketers easily locate unique ingredients that will enable them to develop innovative products which deliver tangible benefits to hair health. And, Sumit Chopra, Director Research Analysis, GlobalData will give a special Marketing Trends & Regulation seminar on 30 October which will give attendees an exclusive look into future haircare trends and highlight the opportunities available to manufacturers.
Among those showcasing haircare actives at in-cosmetics Asia will be:
- DSM Nutritional Products which will showcase PENTAVITIN®, its 100% natural, plant-derived ingredient – with both ECOCERT approval and NATRUE certification – that works as a soothing active for rinse-off products to deeply hydrate the scalp and relieve sensitivity
- Gattefossé Asia Pacific which will highlight how Definicire™ recreates the natural hair protective lipid layer for frizz control, volume control, curl definition and hold even under high humidity
- Solvay Specialty Chemicals Asia Pacific which will present its POLYCARE® SPLIT THERAPY, a naturally-derived hair care active that mends split ends effectively with an unparalleled repair rate of more than 90% after one application
Meanwhile, for brands looking to develop innovative anti-pollution haircare products, Xin Qu from Ashland LLC will host a technical seminar on ‘Protecting hair and scalp from the stress of urban living’ at in-cosmetics Asia on 1 November.
in-cosmetics Asia takes place at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre from 30th October to 1st November 2018. More info and registration for this year’s event is free of charge and can be completed via http://asia.in-cosmetics.com/register.
