The Global Facial Serum market is expected to grow at a significant rate between 2022 and 2028, according to Market Watch.
It predicts the Facial Serum market will grow from US$1.1 billion in 2021 to US$1.5 billion by 2028, with a compound annual growth rate of 5.2 per cent.
To celebrate the launch of its two newest serums, Cicaplast B5 Serum and Pure Niacinamide 10 Serum, La Roche-Posay held a Serum School at North Bondi.
Highly trained specialist dermatologist, cosmetic injector and La Roche ambassador Dr Cara McDonald spoke to guests at the event about the importance of using a serum.
“A serum is a vehicle or delivery method for skincare,” explained the co-director and principal dermatologist at Complete Skin Specialists.
“When we think about what we want to do with our skin, really what we want is to achieve a certain outcome. To do that, we need active ingredients or certain ingredients that are going to make a change in our skin. So, they need to be delivered to the right place in the skin.”
Dr McDonald said the advantage of a serum “is that we can be very specific with a higher concentration of that ingredient to get the best outcome and we can design that serum to deliver the ingredient where it needs to be, and it reaches deeper than a moisturiser or ointment”.
Meanwhile, L’Oréal’s Scientific Communications Manager Jodi Hindmarsh said La Roche-Posay’s serums “have been formulated for optimal tolerance, yet high efficacy for use on sensitive skin”.
“We’ve developed the serums with dermatologists for the maximum efficacy using scientific evidence proof behind all our formulations, and we use real studies over significant periods of time to ensure that our results are evidence-based,” she said.
The Cicaplast B5 Serum contains 10 per cent Vitamin B5, a highly concentrated humectant that helps to increase hydration and reduce trans-epidermal water loss, and contains HEPES (hydroxyethylpiperazine ethane sulfonic acid) to help stimulate skin renewal, reinforce the moisture barrier, and comfort skin.
Pure Niacinamide 10 Serum combines a range of ingredients that support the reduction of visible dark spots and pigmentation.
La Roche-Posay is available at Chemist Warehouse, Priceline and select pharmacies nationally as well as online at www.laroche-posay.com.au.
