Life-Space began in 2012 and has now expanded into New Zealand, Hong Kong (China) and China, becoming the number one international probiotic brand on both Tmall and TaoBao.
Chinese health supplements giant By-Health purchased the Melbourne-based probiotic manufacturer, Life-Space Group, for almost $700 million in 2018.
The launch of Life-Space’s new range – Life-Space Probiotics + Skin – was held via Zoom.
Naturopath, Education Consultant and Life-Space Scientific Marketing Manager Danny Urbinder hosted the event while Naturopathic Practitioner and Life-Space Ambassador Amie Skilton spoke about gut health and the gut-skin axis.
Life-Space’s probiotic formulas have been developed to support gut and skin health, by targeting the microbiome, Danny said. Each and every one of us has a unique microbiome, one’s very own ecosystem of microbes that support your general health and wellbeing. A healthy microbiome contains a rich diversity of bacteria, and a diverse range of microbes, including Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria, which are naturally found in the digestive tract.
“Life-Space has long championed the benefits of a healthy microbiome and its ability to influence our general health,” he said.
“With the new Life-Space Probiotics + Skin Range our aim is to educate consumers on the importance of microbiome health and the gut-skin axis. Our point of difference is that we are not a skincare brand, but a probiotics supplement brand, that champions skin health, with the credibility we have as microbiome experts.”
The gut microbiome’s influence reaches beyond the gut and supports the function of other organs, including the human body’s largest organ, the skin. With up to 70 per cent of the immune system located in your gut, it plays a dynamic role in supporting your health and the healthy functioning of your skin, he said.
A qualified aesthetician with more than 19 years’ clinical experience, Amie is also an author, skincare formulator, and respected industry educator who is passionate about educating and empowering people dealing with chronic skin issues, helping them to understand and leverage the gut-skin axis for healing their skin, naturally.
“Lifestyle factors such as a poor diet, lack of sleep, mild stress, alcohol and certain medications can disrupt the delicate balance of the microbiome,” she said.
“I often say when your gut is unhappy on the inside, your skin is likely to be unhappy on the outside too.”
Common skin conditions such as acne, can also be a result of an imbalance in the microbiome, she said.
Life-Space Probiotics + Skin range that include probiotics, vitamins and minerals to support gut and skin health are available now.
