Health and beauty are big business in Rundle Mall from a small army of barber shops to laser clinics, nail salons, three Chemist Warehouse stores and two TerryWhite Chemmart outlets.
The busy shopping destination also plays host to some of the biggest names in retail beauty, including David Jones, Myer, Sephora, Mecca, Jurlique, L’Occitane, Endota Spa and The Body Shop.
Rundle Mall took out top honours at the recent National Retail Awards, livestreamed for the second year in a row, to win the Retail Precinct of the Year award.
Managed by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA), a subsidiary of the City of Adelaide, Rundle Mall continued to attract shoppers into the city centre over the past 12 months with a series of programs and marketing strategies, including post-lockdown Black Friday sales and the Sky Castle installation in July and August, a free illumination display which was part of the Adelaide Light Festival.
Officially opened in September 1976, Rundle Mall is celebrating its 45th anniversary this month. All of the precinct’s Covid-safe events were strongly focused on marketing initiatives and underscored its “Expect It All” core mission, noted Nicola Smith, Rundle Mall Retail & Events Manager.
“Being named the best retail precinct in Australia is a fantastic achievement that recognises the effort that has gone into attracting visitors and shoppers into the city and providing them with unique experiences that can’t be found anywhere else.”
