The Strand Arcade is Sydney’s epicentre of retail style and design.
It was designed by John B. Spencer, assisted by Charles E. Fairfax; and built from 1890 to 1892 by Bignell and Clark, with renovations completed by Stephenson & Turner in 1976.
The only remaining arcade of its kind in Sydney, the property was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 13 December 2011.
Today, it houses many of Australia’s best designer labels and speciality stores catering to a discerning, sophisticated clientele.
Revered Italian apothecary brand Santa Maria Novella, renowned for their history, quality, and originality, has opened their second Australian flagship in the Victorian-style retail arcade located in the heart of the Sydney central business district.
Santa Maria Novella is one of the oldest pharmacies in the world, having been established by Dominican friars shortly after their arrival in Florence in 1221.
The new boutique was designed by renowned Italian architect Filoppo Burresi, with the refined store concept blending tradition and innovation to represent the brand’s Florentine heritage and origin.
It follows the successful opening of their first Australian flagship store in Paddington last year.
Offering not just the classic collection of products for which the brand is known, Santa Maria Novella will also welcome the latest Firenze 1221 Bath and Body Collection.
