The Australian consumer is continuing to demand sustainable practices from the companies and brands they support.
According to the First Insight’s The State of Consumer Spending report, consumers across all generations—from Baby Boomers to Gen Z—are now willing to spend more for sustainable products.
Two years ago, only 58 per cent of consumers across all generations were willing to spend more for sustainable options.
Today, nearly 90 per cent of Gen X consumers said that they would be willing to spend an extra 10% or more for sustainable products, compared to just over 34 per cent two years ago.
The World Economic Forum has announced that 65 per cent of consumers want to make the right spending choices to live a healthier and more sustainable life.
Embracing this important consumer trend, retail event Life Instyle has dedicated The Neighbourhood area to showcase brands who have a sustainability ethos at the heart of what they do.
The space will be called Future Eden.
Products and companies showcased in this area include products using re-used, re-purposed, recycled materials and limited waste impact.
One beauty company that will be showcased at Future Eden is Odesse, a brand that creates solid fragrances offering sustainable alternatives to spray fragrances. The fragrances are plastic, water and alcohol free and completely refillable and recyclable.
Marketing Manager for Life Instyle, Annabelle Arch, said it was “critical for us at Life Instyle to showcase products that are reflective of the major consumer trends, offering our visitors a curated group of brands and products that are going to allow them to create a retail product offering that is going to appeal to today’s consumer”.
“The demand for sustainable and ethically sourced and manufactured products no longer appeals just to a niche group of consumers, but to the mass,” she said.
“This is a good thing, not only for the planet of course, but for the Australian economy.”
Life Instyle will be held from 18th-21st February at the ICC Sydney.
