It is almost time for the prestigious and highly anticipated PA National Conference where the Pharmacy Assistant of the Year (PATY) for 2024 will be announced. PATY is an annual award ceremony that celebrates Australia’s outstanding pharmacists for their skills, knowledge, leadership and customer service over a 12-month period.

This year’s winner will be revealed at a cocktail party on the 6th of September.

Hosted by Pharmacy Guild, the PA National Conference involves a variety of informative workshops centred around beauty, lifestyle, and wellbeing. These sessions will be scheduled between the 5th to 7th of September.

Alice Vanderpol, Guild Trainer and Pharmacy Assistant National Conference Program Committee Member, said: “My highlight of the night is the announcement of The Pharmacy Guild of Australia/Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of the Year 2024.”

Last year’s winner, Colby Diek, was awarded for her passion and commitment to her work and industry. In the event’s first plenary session, Diek will provide an overview of her year as Pharmacy Assistant of the Year as she prepares to hand over to the 2024 winner.

Retail Beauty is most looking forward to the workshops in the beauty/lifestyle category including:

  • Care and management of oily and acne prone skin
  • Innovation in scalp health
  • Dry & damaged skin – a pharmacy assistant’s guide to advances in skin repair

“You will likely have encountered questions about oily skin and acne, which affects as much as 25 per cent of the overall population and 40 per cent of adolescents and we have a session on that too. You can and do make such a difference to your customers when you approach their concerns with empathy and from a basis of sound knowledge,” Vanderpol said.

The 2024 PATY national winner will receive a custom glass trophy, a $5,000 cash prize, Return flights, accommodation and registration to PA2025, an invitation to participate as a judge at the 2025 National Judging Workshop, and more.

The list of state finalists can be found on the PATY website.
