It was on a trip to Boracay, a small island in the central Philippines, that Emille Mendoza discovered the benefits of coconut oil.
Locals were selling coconut oil on the beach, and Emille experienced firsthand the benefits it provided to her skin.
As a flight attendant, Emilie’s skin was often dry, and had a lightbulb moment to create her own skincare range.
In 2015, Boracay Skin, a natural, coconut-based vegan range of products that make your skin shimmer and stay hydrated, was born.
Today the range includes eight products, with a new facial serum that promises to nourish and hydrate the skin, while also providing a gradual bronze glow, launched via Zoom.
“As Covid-19 lockdowns lift across Australia and the weather starts to heat up, many of us are emerging from our cocoons,” Emilie said.
“Being stuck inside our homes without access to beauty services means many of us are not emerging as the beautiful bronzed butterflies we wish we were. Lockdown has also meant that many of us have gotten used to going makeup-free thus increasing the importance of nourishing our skin.”
She explained the Boracay Skin Hyaluronic Glow Serum contained natural ingredients such as coconut fruit powder, paired with anti-ageing actives such as vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to keep skin looking plump and glowing.
“The gradual tan is an added bonus as it means we can wear little to no make-up and still look like we have a bronzy glow,” she said.
“The use of hyaluronic acid helps the glow serum give users a natural-looking skin pump up. Hyaluronic acid is present in our body already. However, its supply decreases with age. Topical hyaluronic acid helps restore the water content of our epidermis, helping our skin appear smoother, more elastic and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The addition of coconut fruit powder provides hydration and removes inflammation. Niacinamide and vitamin C both repair sun damage and help protect the skin from future damage.”
Boracay Skin Hyaluronic Glow Serum is suitable for all skin types including acne-prone skin.
It can be used in conjunction with other anti-aging products, including retinoids.
