Westfield Bondi Junction will host a Community Reflection Day on Thursday, 18 April, following the tragic incident that left six people dead in a stabbing attack. The day will be dedicated to honoring the victims and providing a space for community mourning and support.

Elliott Rusanow, Chief Executive of Scentre Group, announced that the centre will not conduct retail activities on this solemn day. Instead, the focus will be on providing a serene environment where community members can reflect on the events and pay their respects. The mall will operate under “quiet settings,” with no background music and digital advertising being turned off for the day.

Visitors are encouraged to come between 11am and 5pm. During their visit, they will have the opportunity to sign condolence books available both in hard copy and online. Black ribbon commemoration pins will also be distributed as a symbol of respect and remembrance.

Support will be available on-site, with mental health counselors from Assure and Lifeline present, along with other community partners, to assist those who might need it during this time. This initiative reflects the community’s effort to come together and support one another in the face of such a devastating event.

Normal business operations are scheduled to resume on Friday, 19 April.

Meanwhile, a candlelight vigil is scheduled for 5:30pm this Sunday at Dolphin Court, Bondi Beach, to honour the six victims.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own candles to the event. Waverley Council Mayor Paula Masselos announced that the vigil will include a one-minute silence to pay respects to the deceased. Mayor Masselos emphasised that the vigil serves as a crucial moment for the community to unite, support each other, and begin the healing process in the wake of the tragedy.
