L’Oréal has shown their support for the LGBTQIA+ community at this year’s WorldPride 2019 with their ‘March for Me‘ digital campaign. 860 L’Oréal employees walked in this year’s march with many more showing their support “virtually “online.

The digital campaign, which spanned over Pride month, encouraged those who could not attend the march to upload photos of themselves to social media with the hashtag #marchforme. These images were then broadcast onto screens atop the L’Oréal USA float. At the time of publication, the hashtag has over 600 posts.

President of L’Oréal Luxe Xavier Vey said that is was energising to see employees and allies work together to embrace inclusivity on a global scale.

“We celebrate individuality and champion self-expression at L’Oréal which anchors our global mission of Beauty for All,” said Xavier Vey in the official press release.

This year’s march marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots which are considered a pivotal moment for the modern gay rights movement. Thousands took to the streets of New York on Sunday to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community.

It was the second year the company has participated in the WorldPride event of which they are an official sponsor.

L’Oréal was one of the first companies to officially support the United Nation’s Standards of Conduct, which aims to fight the discrimination faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. They also earned the title of Best Employer for LGBTI Equality from The Human Rights Campaign Foundation in 2018.
