From a personal perspective and a pioneering spirit, Kiri Yanchenko founded AMPERNA to support and care for those with all kinds of acne.

According to the articleAdult Acne Is On The Rise — & It Goes Way Beyond Surface Level’ published on msn.com in July 2019, rates of adult acne are on the rise and so too an increase in mental health issues.

The statistics referenced from The American Academy of Dermatology in 2012 state women are disproportionately impacted compared to their male peers, with 50% of women 20-19 affected and 25% of women 40-49. The article then draws on anecdotal accounts from dermatologists in 2018, which points towards an overall increase in adult female acne.

The cause of this increase? Dermatologist Ainah U. Tan, MD, who has published a review on the subject, says along with hormone and environmental factors: “One reason for increased prevalence is due to living in a developed area. Studies have shown that industrialised nations have higher rates of acne.”

The article goes on to highlight the effect of acne on adult women, being an increase in reporting of clinical depression, anxiety and social isolation. The positive aspect is that “acne acceptance” has become common vernacular and society is showing steps forward in handling the condition.

AMPERNA’s raison d’etre

Kiri Yanchenko founder of AMPERNA

Kiri Yanchenko founder of AMPERNA knows all too well how acne effects women. Since starting her business, which helps people suffering a variety of skin conditions, she has experienced a spike in the number of women who call on her every day for help. Some 95% of her clientele are women and there is such hot demand for her products that they recently sold out.

Kiri is one of the many Australians who has struggled with adult acne. When she was 30, her father developed a serious illness. His health quickly deteriorated, and Kiri, being his sole carer, soon found herself battling with her own health problems. To help deal with the situation, she was prescribed medication, which had acute side effects. She rapidly dropped 15 kilograms and her skin went from normal to unbearable almost overnight.

Initially, she developed a severe case of pustular acne that was so painful she could not sleep at night. She then developed perioral dermatitis, a common facial irritation that manifests as spots and flaky skin around the mouth and chin.

Kiri searched for treatment options and in her search, she was prescribed a topical steroid. Instead of helping her condition, it actually made it worse.  She was desperate to find a solution and believed there were alternatives to prescription medication. She endeavoured to find an answer for her condition through researching medical studies on skin health and acne. Her findings encouraged Kiri to develop a solution bridging the gap between between 100% natural skin care and prescription medication.

She pioneered for 5 years to develop the AMPERNA range, working in conjunction with one of Australia’s most experienced skincare chemists and testing with people suffering relevant skin conditions. Using a combination of natural active ingredients, along with tried and tested ingredients of modern science, she developed formulas that help promote an optimal healthy holistic skin balance.

The AMPERNA brand is an Australian owned, ethical skincare brand, devoted to creating revolutionary and unique formulas to help rebalance and transform the appearance of skin.

Kiri works with women across the world to tailor a skincare regime to help them manage conditions such as acne, rosacea and dermatitis. Her Australian-first range of Active Probiotic Skincare products are formulated to help people achieve their best skin, and since being in business, she has numerous 5-star reviews and her clientele are experiencing extremely encouraging results.
