With the COVID-19 pandemic impacting on product launch events, brands are turning to technology to share their latest brand news.

CeraVe invited media and influencers to join them online for a livestreamed panel discussion to introduce viewers to its two new facial skincare products that have just launched in the Australian market – Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum and AM Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF15.

Hosted by CeraVe advocate Lauren Phillips, the livestream featured Australian dermatologist Dr Ryan De Cruz and L’Oréal’s scientific communications manager Rachel McAdam.

The panel spoke about the products that were formulated with CeraVe’s three essential Ceramides and patented MVE delivery technology, and explained the two new products worked to protect, hydrate and restore the skin’s natural barrier.

Dr Ryan De Cruz said the most important ingredients in one’s skin care regimen was sunscreen.

“Without doubt, a broad spectrum SPF50+ sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB,” he said.

“Ideally this would be a lightweight, non-comedogenic sunscreen lotion that is easy to apply, not too thick nor greasy.”

“After sunscreen, I believe a moisturiser that is suited to an individual’s skin-type is an essential part of one’s daily routine. Whether a patient has dry and sensitive, oily or combination skin, using an appropriate facial moisturiser will support the skin barrier and prevent dehydration. Ideally, the moisturiser will contain scientifically proven ingredients that support the skin’s natural function such as ceramides and niacinamide (vitamin B3).   A pH-neutral, gentle cleanser that is hydrating and free from unnecessary, potentially harmful chemicals is the final component of any basic skincare regimen.”

Meanwhile, Rachel spoke in depth about the benefits of hyaluronic acid.

“Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule that can hold approximately 1000 times its weight in water,” she said.

“It is responsible for giving our skin ‘plumpness’ contributes to skin luminosity. In skincare, hyaluronic acid acts a powerful agent that attracts water into the epidermis, therefore increasing skin hydration and compensating for skin water loss.”

The two new products are available now at Chemist Warehouse.
