Last year's MAGAP Awards night.

Entries for the annual Makeup Artist Guild Asia Pacific (MAGAP) Awards are now open.

The awards are a platform specifically designed to recognise and celebrate those in the makeup industry, with more than 22 categories being awarded in 2020.

Director and founder of the MAGAP Awards, Melanie Burnicle, said as with many awards platforms and gala events, “we’ve had to adapt the way we run the program this year” due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“We hope by turning the awards night into an online show and reducing the entry fees, we will show support and kindness to our industry and that we’ll be able to reach and recognise more of our industry professionals across Australia and continue to grow,” she said.

Previous winners of the coveted Makeup Artist of the Year category have included Sarah Laidlaw and Shella Martin.

The 2020 judging panel will once again consist of a curated mix of international and local artists and industry professionals who will individually judge the entries from the 22 categories remotely from Sunday, August 9.

Finalists will be announced on Monday, September 14.

The awards ‘ceremony’ will be take place via an online stream on Saturday, October 17 from  6pm.

All genres of makeup artists are invited to take part.
