Elle Macpherson, celebrated globally as ‘The Body’ since her mid-20s, is now approaching her 60th birthday with a dramatically different perspective. The iconic supermodel and entrepreneur, renowned for founding WelleCo, was recently in Sydney and Melbourne in collaboration with Chemist Warehouse to unveil her newest groundbreaking product, The Evening Elixir.

During a Q&A session hosted by Melissa Doyle in Sydney at Shellhouse, Elle opened up about the profound impact of motherhood on her life, which was a period that saw her embrace changes in her body and mindset. Pregnancy and motherhood became catalysts for understanding the interconnectedness of physical, mental, and emotional health.

“I had to learn what it meant to see my body transform in such a magical beautiful way,” Elle said.

Elle candidly shared her journey from a fresh-faced 20-year-old model to a seasoned 50-year-old woman, navigating through the complexities of parenting and professional life. This evolution emphasised the necessity of adapting to diverse life roles and gaining a deeper understanding of her body and needs.

“I went from being a 20-year-old girl to a 50-year-old woman… it was a journey of experience and trial and error,” she said.

The mother-of-two said her concept of beauty had evolved over time, moving from a focus on physical appearance to encompassing mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This holistic approach to health became a central theme in her 40s.

“This whole beauty thing isn’t really just about physical beauty. There’s so much more to it: mental, emotional, spiritual well-being,” she said.

Confronting issues like nutrient deficiencies, sleep deprivation, and addiction, Elle discovered the significance of proper nutrition. A meeting with Dr Simone Laubscher PhD led to an exploration of the right types of supplements, moving away from ineffective synthetic vitamins to more absorbable forms.

“I was nutrient deficient, sleep deprived, sugar addicted, coffee addicted, and thinking I was fabulous, but feeling terrible,” she said.

“I started taking the supplements  and four weeks later I walked into Dr  Laubscher’s clinic feeling fabulous. Amazing skin, amazing vitality.”

Her journey culminated in the creation of WelleCo, a wellness product stemming from her own experiences with supplementation.

“Dr Laubscher taught me ‘You Are Not What You Eat – You Are What You Absorb’. I didn’t understand that it could be as simple as not having enough of the right type of nutrients,” she said.

Elle’s mission is to inspire others to discover their inner vitality and beauty with the creation of WelleCo, and she emphasised that true wellness is a blend of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

“My mission is to have people discover that vitality and sense of beauty within themselves, that they can amplify into the world,” she said.
