Luxury fragrance retailer Libertine Parfumerie has unveiled its flagship store in Paddington, Sydney.  This 15-year dream turned reality offers fragrance enthusiasts a unique haven on Oxford Street, easily accessible from popular shopping destinations and Glenmore Road.

Owner Nick Smart entrusted local interior designer Tamsin Johnson to create an interior space that embodies the brand’s maturity and luxurious offerings while infusing a distinctive Sydney vibe.

“We wanted to a create a space that hasn’t been seen in Australian beauty retail,” Nick said. “Establishing a flagship in Sydney is a momentous occasion for Libertine Parfumerie. Since opening our first boutique in Brisbane the brand has experienced significant market growth – especially through our online store – matched only in momentum by our portfolio of brands which has broadened to include some of the most revered names in fragrance.”

The store’s glazed facade, featuring old French chiffoniers and the 1800s sandstone walls of the Victoria Barracks, provides an enticing glimpse into Johnson’s decorative style. Impeccable custom detailing characterises the store, with stained European oak cabinets catering to each brand’s display requirements.

“I set about researching a lot of classical European druggists and other stores and reflecting upon them as inspiration for this project,” Tasmin said.

“One of my favourite things to do is explore classical pharmacies overseas, particularly those very old ones in Milan, Vienna and throughout France. They are so dignified and ornate. I wanted to recreate that feeling here.”

The cabinetry incorporates brushed metal railings, white marble plinths, glass-backed dispensary doors, and elongated product baskets. Complementing the vintage aesthetic are contemporary Italian glass pieces, including chandeliers, wall pendants, and sculptural vases sourced primarily from Murano.

The rear section of the boutique is dedicated to rare and precious bottles from renowned perfume brands like Creed, Roja Parfums, and Astier de Villatte. Large provincial timber tables with high-back brocade-upholstered seating enable visitors to consult with Libertine Parfumerie’s experts, who specialise in matching fragrances and body products to individual preferences.

Libertine Parfumerie’s flagship store, located at Shop 6/134-140 Oxford Street, Paddington, Sydney, is open seven days a week, from 10am until 5.30pm.
