L’Oréal Groupe has announced its acquisition of Gowoonsesang Cosmetics Co, the parent company of Korean skincare brand Dr.G, from Swiss retailer Migros. The move marks a strategic expansion of L’Oréal’s Consumer Products Division (CPD), bolstering its lineup with a leading player in South Korea’s booming skincare market.

Founded in 2003 by dermatologist Dr. Gun Young Ahn, Dr.G has gained a strong reputation for effective, science-backed products like its best-selling R.E.D Blemish Clear Soothing Cream. The brand’s omnichannel approach has solidified its position as one of South Korea’s top three mass-market and dermocosmetic skincare brands. With a growing footprint across Asia, Dr.G is poised for international growth under L’Oréal’s stewardship.

L’Oréal is betting big on K-Beauty, with Dr.G joining the fold as its second Korean acquisition following 3CE.

Meanwhile, Dr Gun Young Ahn, shared his enthusiasm for the acquisition: We are thrilled that Gowoonsesang Cosmetics is joining L’Oréal. Our mission has always been to provide healthy and radiant skin through advanced research. Becoming part of L’Oréal marks a significant turning point in the global realisation of our mission.”

The deal, which is subject to regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the coming months.
