Mecca Cosmetica is the latest company to fall victim to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Today the beauty retailer announced it was temporarily closing its more than 80 stores across Australia.

It comes just 24 hours after cult-favourite makeup label MAC Cosmetics announced it would also be shutting its doors.

Myer also recently announced it would be temporarily closed  due to coronavirus.

In a statement by Mecca, the company said “based on the revised advice of the Government over the last few days and the challenges in adhering to the increasingly stringent social distancing measures, we have no choice but to temporarily close our stores from today, as nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our team, our customers and the community in general”.

“We anticipate being closed for four weeks until the end of April, but we will keep you up to date with changes.  We want to thank our amazing teams for all their incredible efforts to support our customers and each other during these challenging times.”

Customers can still purchase from Mecca online.

The company has launched  a free personalised beauty consultation using  FaceTime and booked online, called Virtual Servies, where “one of our ‘font of all knowledge’ in-store hosts will call you on FaceTime and will talk you through and demonstrate everything you would typically see in store,” the comapny said.
