Buoyed by a huge uptick in online sales over the Easter long weekend, Myer is re-igniting its click-and-collect service this week.

The department store chain recently announced the possible re-opening of its store-wide network on May 11th. But Mother’s Day falls on the day before the planned move and Myer is hoping for an Easter me-too.

Beauty has been a major player in the upsurge of Myer’s online revenues since the retailer’s temporary store shutdown on March 29th.

The category is also a traditional source for Mother’s Day gifts, notably fragrances.

In spite of the popularity of online mega-sales such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday in Australia, Mother’s Day remains a hotspot in the fragrance industry launch calendar.

Myer’s click-and-collect service will be available in 22 stores nationwide, focusing on high volume doors including Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide City stores, Chadstone, Chatswood, Parramatta and Pacific Fair.

Pop-ups will be located at the store entrances, complete with hygiene and social distancing measures to ensure pick-ups are as safe as possible.

They will be open from 10am to 5pm, seven days a week, from now to May 10th.

The initiative will also see more Myer staff returning to work, following the recent re-instatement of 2000 employees to help with increased online sales.
