As technology revolutionises industries worldwide, skincare is no exception. SumaNurica, an Australian biotech skincare brand, is leading this transformation by merging biotechnology with skincare to create products that are not only effective but environmentally conscious.

“At SumaNurica, we’re redefining skincare with biotechnology,” explained SumaNurica Marketing Manager Alisa Kerr at a recent launch event held in Sydney, hosted by Paula Joye. “Biotech allows us to replicate ingredients found in nature, like collagen and peptides, in a controlled lab environment. This means we can produce skin-identical proteins and peptides without using vast amounts of land, water, or other resources. It’s better for the skin, and better for the planet.”

Biotechnology enables SumaNurica to produce proteins and peptides from sustainable sources like yeast, fungi, and bacteria, resulting in active ingredients with the same genetic structure as natural counterparts. Danielle Joubert, Product Manager and trained Dermal Therapist, explained, “Every batch is identical, stable, and safe—especially beneficial for sensitive skin. Traditional plant-based ingredients often vary in potency and can trigger reactions. With our lab-engineered approach, we minimise variability and maximize stability.”

The star of the brand’s new lineup is the EGF Cellular Repair Serum.

“EGF, or Epidermal Growth Factor, is a natural component in our skin that stimulates collagen and elastin production,” says Joubert. “Our serum delivers this growth factor to support skin repair and regeneration, effectively tackling signs of aging at the root.”

SumaNurica’s attention to detail extends to its unique delivery system, which keeps products fresh and potent. “Instead of a single 30ml serum bottle, we use three smaller 15ml bottles,” Joubert says. “Every time you open a bottle, it’s exposed to air, which can reduce efficacy over time. By keeping each bottle sealed until it’s needed, we extend the product’s life and keep it as potent as possible.”

The range includes several flagship products available at Myer and online, such as:

  • Purifying Enzyme Cleansing Balm ($109): A rich cleansing balm that removes impurities while providing antibacterial benefits.
  • Hexapeptide5 Anti-Wrinkle Eye Serum ($299): An age-defying eye serum packed with peptides and probiotics.
  • ECM Ultra-Light Ceramide Moisturiser ($149): A barrier-strengthening moisturizer that hydrates and protects.
  • Probiotic Energising Essence ($129): An essence that restores the skin’s microbiome for all-day hydration and radiance.

Joubert emphasised that SumaNurica’s products are developed in-house, ensuring they remain exclusive to the brand. “Our skincare is unique because it’s crafted by our scientists and used only in SumaNurica products. It’s not something you’ll find anywhere else,” she says. “Every ingredient we use has a purpose, and we work with precision to ensure each one is safe, effective, and sustainable.”

The brand’s commitment to innovation also shines in its packaging. SumaNurica’s products come in Italian-crafted, recyclable glass bottles with airless pump technology to prevent oxidation and extend efficacy. “It’s evidence-based luxury,” says Joubert. “We believe skincare should be as beautiful as it is effective. Our customers deserve high-performance products in packaging that reflects that quality.”
