After an impressive 16-year tenure at the forefront of Weleda Australia, David Johnston is set to pass on his leadership baton to Charmaine Pichler, marking a new era for the company as she steps into the role of Managing Director.
Charmaine, a seasoned member of the Weleda team for 14 years, brings a wealth of experience to her new position. Her extensive background spans across key business areas including sales, marketing, manufacturing, and leadership. These competencies have been pivotal in driving the profitable growth and enhancing the brand equity of Weleda in the competitive market.
Throughout her career at Weleda Australia, Charmaine has made significant contributions that underscore her leadership prowess and business acumen. Notably, she spearheaded the creation of a dynamic marketing team and was instrumental in launching the company’s e-commerce operations in Australia. Her strategic approach to increasing and diversifying distribution channels, especially within the pharmacy sector, has played a crucial role in expanding the company’s market reach. Prior to her tenure at Weleda, Charmaine demonstrated her capability in both consumer and business environments at esteemed organisations such as W.L. Gore & Associates, where she managed the ANZ Consumer Fabric portfolio for the Gore-Tex brand.
Beyond her professional achievements, Charmaine is deeply committed to environmental conservation. Her years as an eco-diver, participating in local initiatives to monitor and clean the underwater environment, highlight her dedication to sustainability. When away from the professional realm, she enjoys immersing herself in nature through trail running, hiking, ocean swimming, and Sunday pilates, along with spending quality time with her family.
David plans to remain connected with Weleda Australia, offering his guidance and support to the team a few days a week during the transition phase and as needed thereafter. He is set to embark on a journey of personal and professional development, pursuing a Mastery of Business and Empathy with Small Giants Academy. His future endeavours will focus on leveraging his skills in writing and other areas to contribute positively to society and the environment.
