DoorDash is the largest on-demand food platform in the United States.

It was founded in in 2013 by Stanford students Tony Xu, Stanley Tang, Andy Fang and Evan Moore and launched locally in 2019.

Chemist Warehouse has announced a new partnership with the on-demand delivery platform, enabling Australians to pharmaceuticals delivered to their house in under 24 hours.

To celebrate the partnership, DoorDash delivery on all Chemist Warehouse products will be free Australia-wide from Friday 27 August to Sunday 5 September.

As demand for pharmacy deliveries skyrocketed during the global pandemic, DoorDash’s white label delivery service Drive will help streamline the ordering process for Chemist Warehouse, offering faster delivery than their normal service.

DoorDash’s current network of drivers, which reaches over 80 per cent of Australia’s population, will support the online and bricks-and-mortar retailer.

Head of Enterprise Partnerships at DoorDash Australia, Chase Gardner, says the partnership highlights DoorDash’s ability to support retailers as they respond to rapidly evolving consumer needs.

“The pandemic has seen online retailers, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector, faced with an accelerated  shift in consumer behaviour, with many preferring online deliveries over going out to the store.   This is coupled with increasing expectations for fast delivery options, which many retailers simply don’t have the infrastructure or resources to accommodate as quickly as they’d like.   A partnership with DoorDash allows merchants to leverage our existing technology and widespread driver network to ease the strain on their resources, while giving them the opportunity to grow and meet increasing demand.”

Chemist Warehouse Director Mario Tascone says the company is excited to be partnering with DoorDash.

“We’re thrilled to be launching this campaign nationally with DoorDash. We’re supporting our customers to ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe and Stay Healthy’ with access to free fast delivery, at a time when they need it most.”
