Kombucha is a fermented tea that is known for its potential health benefits, but it is also being used in the beauty industry. Kombucha contains a variety of beneficial compounds, including organic acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, which can be beneficial for the skin.

Some skincare companies are incorporating kombucha into their products as a way to provide the skin with the benefits of these compounds. Kombucha extract is sometimes used in facial toners, serums, and moisturisers. These products are marketed as having the ability to hydrate the skin, improve its texture and tone, and provide anti-aging benefits.

Fresh co-founder Lev Glazman has always been obsessed with fermented kombucha.

“I started drinking kombucha and became so infatuated with the power of fermentation—how it made me feel energised—that I wanted to highlight its potential on the skin,” she said .

fresh has conducted extensive research on the antioxidant ingredient and its skin defence properties to protect from the effects of external stressors.

The brand recently launched its revamped Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence with a Golden Era Garden Soirée.

Speaking at the event, Fresh ANZ Marketing Manager Laura Middleton said the essence delivered powerful antioxidant protection, thanks to a double fermentation process that produces small antioxidant molecules for easy penetration.

“We have had a major upgrade in the formulation, which is why we’re here to celebrate tonight,” she said.

“The new formula now features double fermented kombucha, which means that the particles are smaller, so it is better able to absorb into your skin and it also provides improved antioxidant protection against everyday environmental stresses on your skin. It also is now formulated with an advanced metabiotic technology which means that it is supporting the skin’s self defence system against everyday lifestyle stresses, and it also reduces the free radicals in your skin to help visibly  repair against oxidative stress.”

Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence also includes hyaluronic acid and artemisia flower and is available in store at Sephora, and online at Sephora.com.au and Sephora.nz.
