Terri Bakker has won the 2022 Pharmacy Guild of Australia / Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award at APP2023.

Meanwhile, Georgina Morris from LiveLife Pharmacy Bowen Healthcare was awarded  MIMS/Guild Intern of the Year 2022.

Bianca Busby from Western Australia was awarded the 2022 Glucojel Super Star Award.

APP is The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s annual national conference and the largest pharmacy conference and trade show in Australia.

APP offers attendees a comprehensive four-day educational program, exciting social activities and a trade exhibition showcasing the latest products, services and industry information.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia National President, Professor Trent Twomey, announced the recipients of the award on the opening day.

Terri said: “I love meeting with like-minded pharmacy assistants who have passion for our industry and the patients we see every day. I love a challenge and PATY provided that extra push I needed to step out of my comfort zone, and think of what makes me a leader within my community and industry. It has also given me more confidence in my career as a pharmacy assistant to further pursue different elements with him community pharmacy.”

Georgina said: “It’s such an honour to be presented with the MIMS/Guild Intern of the Year 2022 award at APP2023. Following my profound passion for health, I aspire to work with Aboriginal patients in rural and remote locations to satisfy my desire to see positive change in the well-being of the wider community.”

Prof Twomey also announced Guild Pharmacy of the Year Award, which went to Pharmacy 777 Shoalwater.

Other awards included Excellence in Community Engagement, which went to Pharmacy 777 Shoalwater, Western Australia,  Excellence in Business Management, won by Wholelife Pharmacy & Healthfoods Pease Street, Queensland and Excellence in Professional Innovation which went to Thursday Island Pharmacy, Queensland.

There was a record breaking number of attendees including community pharmacists, pharmacy assistants and industry professionals who embraced this year’s APP with 7,471 attendees.

 More than 1,000 of those attendees dressed to impress the Hollywood-themed Street Party, and danced the night away to two cover bands – Lisa Hunt’s Forever Soul and Bermuda Social.
