Since its inception in 1993, Kate Spade New York has been synonymous with colour, optimism, and femininity. Inter Parfums signed an exclusive worldwide fragrance license agreement with Kate Spade New York in 2019.

Now, Kate Spade has introduced its latest fragrance for 2023—Chérie.

To celebrate its launch locally, Cosmax Prestige Brands, the distributor for Kate Spade in Australia, held a Parisian high tea on Bastille Day, the national day of France, which is celebrated on 14 July each year.

Inter Parfums Brand Manager Sara Phanekham told guests taking inspiration from the dynamics of pop art, Chérie – which  means  “sweetheart” or “dearest” in French  –  embodied the joyful spirit of Kate Spade New York in Paris.

“The scent and bottle design reflects this energy and playfulness, with floral, fruity, and musky notes encased in a round bottle in vibrant red and hot pink,” she said.

“Master perfumer Louise Turner of Givaudan crafted the fragrance, infusing her own joyful and uplifting style. Turner expertly captured the essence of flowers, textures, and petals while reflecting the brand’s femininity, emotion, and optimism.

“The bottle design features glossy rounded curves and bold colours. The combination of red and hot pink represents passion, action, romance, femininity, and playfulness. The outer packaging draws inspiration from Ellsworth Kelly’s minimalist forms and Kate Spade’s iconic racing stripes.”

The fragrance opens with a blend of redcurrant, raspberry, and sparkling Italian mandarin. The heart notes offer a combination of sweet pea and jasmine sambac, while the base notes reveal a fusion of white woods and ambrofix.

The fragrance will be launched with a campaign showcasing a classic Parisian love story, portrayed through intimate moments captured over 24 hours. Created by a talented team of emerging female artists, the campaign evokes the spirit of Nouvelle Vague films and stars model and actress Margaux Van Kommer.
