The L’Occitane Group, a certified B Corporation and leader in sustainable beauty, announced the merger of CEO and Group Managing Director roles effective April 1, 2024.

Laurent Marteau, the current Group Managing Director with over 20 years’ of beauty industry experience, will assume the combined position.

Marteau’s journey in the sector has been illustrious, including a noteworthy 15-year tenure in various senior management roles and countries with the LVMH Group. His trajectory continued with a pivotal role at the La Prairie Group, where he served as VP for Global Travel Retail & Special Channels, eventually earning a position on the Board of Directors in 2014.

Marteau’s influence expanded in 2020 when he assumed the role of VP for Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa. In 2022, he joined the L’Occitane Group as the Group Managing Director, setting the stage for his new role as CEO.

Simultaneously, André J. Hoffmann, acting CEO, steps down but remains an Executive Director and Board member, focusing on strategic, policy, and leadership matters.

Reinold Geiger, Chairman of the L’Occitane Group, said “as our group grows, we need to evolve”.

 “Laurent embodies the L’Occitane Group’s entrepreneurial mindset and deep commitment to people and nature,” he said.

 “His in-depth knowledge of the global market, combined with an inclusive leadership style, makes him a strong CEO to bring together a multi-brand and multicultural group delivering value for all our stakeholders.”

Hoffmann has been acting as Vice-Chairman of the L’Occitane Group since 2016 and took on the role of Group CEO in 2021. He will work alongside the Group’s senior management team to help ensure a smooth transition.

“I want to thank André, my business partner of almost 30 years, for his leadership during his time as CEO,” Geiger added.

“In recent years he has led the company towards its strategic objectives, including its geographical expansion, and has been instrumental in the successful acquisition and integration of new brands such as ELEMIS, Sol de Janeiro and Grown Alchemist. He will continue to play a significant role in the Group, supporting its strategic direction as Executive Director and member of the Board.”
