As CEO of L’Oréal Australia and New Zealand, Rodrigo Pizarro helmed the business through transformative changes over the past nine years.

L’Oréal is not only the biggest beauty company globally, it is also the largest beauty company in Australia. Over the past three years, L’Oréal ANZ has achieved historic market share and double digit growth under Pizarro’s watch.

A keen futurist, his success in the Australian market is strongly linked to his deep understanding of the crucial importance of technology and data in today’s beauty industry. Revolutionising L’Oréal’s analytics capability, he has built a market leading digital business with a strong focus on data analytics and AI.

The digital transformation and major investments such as a highly automated Knapp picking and packing facility at its Melbourne distribution centre helped the company to navigate the Covid-19 pandemic successfully as online sales soared. Pizarro was also instrumental in strengthening relationships with omnichannel retailers such as Myer, David Jones, Sephora and e-tailer Adore Beauty and accelerating an integrated CRM program.

Pizarro’s leadership style puts people first and is focused on building responsible, sustainable and inclusive brands. Inspiring purpose and driving exceptional performance, he also secured the highest employee engagement results to date.

L’Oréal has announced that Pizarro will soon move to a new strategic role within the L’Oréal Groupe.

Alex Davison will  assume the role of  CEO of L’Oréal ANZ. For the past three years, he has managed the L’Oréal Groupe subsidiary in Greece for the multinational. Under his leadership, the business enjoyed three years of double digit growth and increased market share in every business channel.

In addition, he led his team to deliver extra financial commitments that contributed to L’Oréal’s achievements in sustainability, diversity and inclusion, which led to recognition in Greece as a “Top 20 Company Changing the World for Good”, awarded by Fortune magazine.

Davison’s career with L’Oréal began in 2016 as  General Manager of the L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty Division ( formerly Active Cosmetics) in the UK. He significantly accelerated the business by building strong retailer partnerships and market-leading capabilities in both digital and medical. Prior to joining L’Oréal, he worked for Procter & Gamble for 17 years in a series of global, regional and market roles, including acquisitions. He has lived and worked in six different countries, acquiring rich international and multicultural experience.

According to L’Oréal, Davison is a modern and progressive leader, focused on fostering a dynamic culture where everyone is valued and everyone is contributing. In Greece, the L’Oréal Groupe has been recognised a “Top Employer” for the past three years.

I’m excited to be joining the team in Australia and New Zealand, says Davison. ” Over the past nine years, Rodrigo has built a strong business that has people at the heart of its success. This aligns with my personal leadership values and I’m looking forward to working with the team as we build brands tailored for Australian and New Zealand consumers, and a business focused on sustainability and diversity”.
