Royals such as Napoléon III, Empress Eugénie, Franz Josef and Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary, and Queen Maria Christina of Spain were fans of Creed, as was Queen Victoria, who appointed the niche fragrance house as the court’s official fragrance supplier.

Founded in 1760 in London by James Henry Creed, the house eventually had to move its base from London to Paris to better serve its exclusive clientele, which more recently included Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Carey Grant, Paul Newman, Princess Diana and Elizabeth Taylor.

The brand is distributed in Australia by Agence de Parfum, one of Australia’s most prestigious niche perfume and home fragrance distribution companies, founded in 2008 by Fragrance Foundation Board Member and Principal Lawyer Nick Smart.

The House of Creed recently launched Wind Flowers, its latest fresh and floral feminine fragrance, in Australia at  Bennelong in Sydney’s Opera House.

Michael Marzano, National Education Manager Agence De Parfum, hosted the event, explaining that the fragrance was more than five years in the making, and is inspired by the grace and strength of a dancer’s flowing movement, reminiscent of petals blowing in the wind.

“Master Perfumer Olivier Creed has created a beautiful sparkling floral fragrance with magical undertones reminiscent of light, woody nougat,” he said.

“Evoking strength of movement with the airiness and delicacy of femininity, Wind Flowers is an enchanting floral, amber and fresh fragrance. Opening with sweet jasmine, wrapped around the zesty scent of Tunisian orange blossom and a fruity peach note, a powerful heart of delicate jasmine flower, tuberose petals and soft rose extract adds depth and texture. A warm flurry of sandalwood is twisted around a haze of iris and musk, whilst a vibrant note of orange blossom and creamy praline offsets this dusky floral scent to bring to life this luminous fragrance.”

The brand’s heritage Fleur de Lis is engraved on the bottle which, like all Creed fragrances, has been designed with hand blown glass from Pochet.

Sydney Art Quartet, founded by artistic director and cellist James Beck, performed a musical and ballet performance inspired by the fragrance for guests at the event.
