As part of its universalisation strategy, in 2017 L’Oréal acquired the daily skincare brand CeraVe, which was founded in the US in 2005.

The brand, developed with American dermatologists, sits under the multinational’s Active Cosmetics Division, along with La Roche-Posay and Skinceuticals.

To celebrate the launch of its Skin Renewing range, CeraVe held a Skin Renewing #SkinChat at the Porter House Hotel, Sydney.

Hosted by newsreader Jacqui Felgate, the impressive panel lineup included actress and CeraVe brand ambassador Bridie Carter, radio host and CeraVe brand ambassador Lauren Phillips, dermatologist Dr Samantha Davidson, L’Oreal’s Scientific Communications Manager Jodi Hindmarsh, journalist and television presenter of Aboriginal Gamilaroi descent and CeraVe brand ambassador Brooke Boney and CeraVe brand ambassador and  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander beauty influencer Sari-Ella Thaiday.

Speaking about the three new products in the range, Jodi said they “combine ceramides with key active ingredients which are designed to target specific skin concerns”.

“We all know that CeraVe has been the experts in ceramide technology for going on 20 years now. This expertise, coupled with our gentle formulations, developed in combination with dermatologists really make it the ideal range to optimise the skin’s appearance,” she said.

Jodi explained that all three products utilised the brand’s “multivesicular emulsion (MVE) technology”.

“The technology enables the ingredients to be delivered in a multi sphere emulsion, and this gradually releases those ingredients over a 24-hour period,” she said.

“The benefit of this is that rather than all the ingredients being delivered, in one verse release, we have those ingredients stay on the skin for a longer period of time hence the ones daily application of the CeraVe products.”

Dr  Davidson is retinol was “the most studied anti-ageing ingredient that exists”.

“It has the most evidence behind it. It helps with fine lines and it helps with wrinkles,” she said. “It helps reproduce collagen and elastin pigmentation so is a  real workhorse.  The beauty of the CeraVe retinol is that it is encapsulated, which means it’s better for sensitive skin so you can use it every day.”

The three new products in the range are the CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum, CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum and CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream For Face.
