When superstar Halle Berry was diagnosed with diabetes, she quickly shifted focus to healthier eating habits and launched re.spin, a global digital wellness destination.

Just over a year ago, she discovered a new product called Glucose Control from Pendulum Therapeutics, which adopts a probiotic approach to controlling Type 2 diabetes. She also uses the brand’s Akkermansia probiotic for gut health and Metabolic Daily – both backed by the prestigious Mayo Clinic.

Founded in 2012 by Colleen Cutcliffe, CEO and co-founder, and a team of scientists,  San Francisco-based Pendulum now has wide distribution online in the US through its own dedicated website, Amazon and Walmart Marketplace. The biotech company is at the forefront of achieving metabolic health through microbiome-targeted products, a trend which has become even more mainstream during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Oscar-winner Berry has now put her money and time behind Pendulum’s on-going success as an equity owner, investor and the company’s Chief Communications Officer. She will work with the company’s executive team and also consult with experts in nutrition, the microbiome, chemistry and medicine from leading US research institutions such as Johns Hopkins University, Cornell University and Stanford University.

Your gut and microbiome are so important to the rest of your overall health, she says. “It’s all connected. When I started using Pendulum, I immediately felt the difference in both my body and mind and I have been using it every day since. I am beyond excited to join the brilliant and thoughtful Pendulum team.”

Halle Berry is aligned with our mission to empower people to transform their gut and metabolic health with clinically-proven products and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on board, adds Cutcliffe.

“In an industry rife with fly-by-night wellness enthusiasts, we both sensed one another’s authenticity from the onset and knew this partnership would promote substantive health improvement for the masses.”

Berry joins a growing list of celebrities entering collaborations or launching their own health companies such as Gwyneth Paltrow (Goop) and tennis ace Serena Williams, who is set to launch a new brand called Will Perform, a line of topical relief ad muscle care products.
